In its heyday, the Party sold several hundred thousand copies of the newspaper per week and was highly regarded for the quality of its content by media professionals and its legion of readers alike. About the Author
David Hilliard was a founding member and former chief of staff of the Black Panther Party. Since 1993, he has directed the activities of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation, a grassroots community-based nonprofit organization committed to preserving and fostering NewtonÕs intellectual legacy and the original vision of the Black Panther Party. He is the author of numerous books, including This Side of Glory and Huey, Spirit of the Panther. HilliardÕs work has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, and the Los Angeles Times, as well as on National Public Radio, Pacifica Radio, Fox News, CNN, and C-Span.

Copies of original Panther papers mark their positive place in history

Forget His Story. This is a chance to view the diverse programs and liberties the Panthers fought and died for. It's incredible to see the focused, scope of their mission, as shown through the original copies of the Black Panther Press. Tracking down mint, original copies would cost a lot of money, but former Panther Brother Dave Hilliard does us all a great service by resurrecting these important documents to counteract the right wing's dismissive propaganda designed to distract citizens from the group's honorable mission of equality.
There is only a forward penned by Hilliard, the documents are presented in their initial form for you to make your own informed decisions about the Black Panther Party.

I didnt expect this quality!

I was expecting this book to arrive with hard to read newspaper articles (which still wouldve been worth it) and clippings. The pages are all glossy and some are even in color; I was really surprised by the quality of the newspaper transfers to text. The quality of this paperback is absolutely outstanding and well worth the buy. The Black Panthers also comes with a DVD documentary. I'm beyond satisfied with this purchase.
